The 2012 Australian International Motor Show, also known as the Sydney Motor Show, is an annual opportunity for Sydney residents and visitors from further afield to see some of the most exciting new developments in the automotive industry, and to get inspiration when looking to buy or lease a car in the next few years.
This video from Any Auto TV features some of the highlights of this year’s event, held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre before returning to Melbourne next year. The show featured new concepts, fully-fledged prototypes and other vehicles from some of the world’s biggest brands, with the notable exceptions of Audi, BMW and several other manufacturers.
One of the most talked-about manufacturers was Holden, which unveiled its seven-seater Colorado 7 SUV that offers superior off-road capability and promises to take the brand in new directions, as well as the more familiar HSV GTS appearing in a 25th anniversary limited edition to celebrate the milestone. Land Rover also turned heads with a new SUV of its own, the fourth generation Range Rover, which features the company’s first hybrid powertrain for today’s more eco-friendly climate.
Ford Australia’s exhibition was led by the EcoSport, coming to showrooms in 2013, and a new Cars of the Future prototype that’s excited the expectations of V8 fans.
