The success of the Range Rover Evoque for car sales and novated leasing in Australia has motivated Land Rover to explore other concepts and diversify its offerings.
New brand concepts
Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern spoke to the Australian media prior to the 2012 Sydney Motor Show describing some of the new ranges that can be expected from the British SUV specialist in the coming years. In addition to the luxury range characterised by the Range Rover, the brand will also emphasise versatility through the Discovery family, incorporating the next generation Freelander, and dual purpose vehicles, with the new Defender and others.
Among the new Evoque models planned for the Range Rover family are a high performance variant and a luxury SUV based on the Evoque platform, but with more compact execution. The Evoque Ultimate edition will also be replaced by a superior all-terrain model currently in the works. The Evoque was Land Rover’s biggest seller last year, shifting more than 100,000 units worldwide, and the finding that 80 per cent of buyers were new to the Land Rover brand has encouraged the manufacturer to investigate more areas that could attract new customers.
