MyCardPlus – a Smarter Way to Salary Package

Did you know that you can salary package more than just your car? Fleet Network also offers packaging of various living expenses, and meal and entertainment expenses. This means you pay for these items directly from your gross salary, and tax is then only calculated on the remaining amount. This means you pay less income tax and have more salary in your take home pay.

WHO CAN BENEFIT?
Fleet Network currently offers this service only to NT Government Health Department employees.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. Choose the items you want to salary package (Living Expenses and/or Meal Entertainment Expenses).
  2. Simply decide if you want to use 100% or a portion of the annual salary packaging limit.
  3. Complete a Salary Packaging Application Form and provide any additional documentation requested.
  4. Fleet Network will submit your paperwork to our partners at MyCardPlus.
  5. We liaise with your employer and arrange for this money to be deducted from your gross salary and transferred to your Salary Packaging account.
  6. You can then pay for eligible living, meal and entertainment expenses wherever Visa cards are accepted.
  7. View your card balance and activity using your MyCardPlus Mobile App or internet banking.

TAX-FREE LIMITS
If you are a NT public health employee, the annual limit is $9,010 for everyday expenses such as your groceries, household bills, insurance and petrol. You can also use up to $2,650 pre-tax income per year for meal and entertainment expenses. You will receive two separate Visa cards if you choose to salary package both options.

WHAT CAN I SALARY PACKAGE?
Using your pre-tax salary to pay for your living expenses is a great way to save tax and increase your disposable income. Fleet Network offers two types of MyCardPlus cards:

  1. Meal Entertainment Card – For dining expenses when you are eating out with a partner, family or friends.
  2. Living Expenses Card – For all the general expenses required for you and your family’s everyday needs such as groceries, bills and much more.

MEAL ENTERTAINMENT CARD

If you love to dine out this is the card for you. A Meal Entertainment Card makes dining out at a cafe or restaurant more affordable and more achievable when you salary package. You can enjoy great tax savings, stretch your pay packet further and start enjoying life more.


DINING OUT
Dine out tax-free! Eligible expenses include:

  • Meals consumed at a restaurant, cafe, tavern or hotel
  • Drinks consumed at a restaurant, cafe, tavern or hotel

You can also pay for your partner, friends or family on your MyCardPlus. Core criteria for this benefit are:

  • The meal is consumed on the premises where purchased
  • The meal is the primary entertainment activity.

LIVING EXPENSES CARD

The Living Expenses Card is the easy and tax effective way to purchase your everyday expenses. There’s a whole range of living expenses that can be paid for using your gross salary – saving you tax and putting more money in your pocket in the long run!

You can pay for items wherever Visa cards are accepted, including over the phone, and you don’t need to submit claims or receipts. It’s really easy! All you need to do is stay within your salary packaging limit.
