The Proton Preve represents a huge step up for the Malaysian car manufacturer. Proton have been working extremely hard to improve their products to global standards, including new levels of crash safety and emission standards which would be rated five stars in Europe. The Preve is the first of six new models proton are preparing to release by 2014 and is to be launched in Australia this month, meaning it could feature in your search to lease a car in Perth very soon.
The new generation of models will be looking to exceed Proton’s previous sales figures in Australia. Only 313 Proton vehicles were sold in the first quarter of 2012 with the Jumbuck – the highest selling model – being sold to only 94 customers.
The Managing Director of Proton Cars Australia, John Startari, said that the Preve is the first Proton vehicle to be designed to international standards for an international market. With a $40million contract with Hella Australia, Proton will be buying parts for their new ranges from the Australian company that already has contracts with Holden, Ford and Toyota. The Preve marks Proton’s first foray into internationally targeted branding and their new range may pose a serious challenger to the more well known names in car manufacturing.
